I haven't eaten oats since I was a kid, and I decided they were too snotty/slimy to stick in my mouth. Lately I've learned just how good oats are for you, and today I learned they're good for keeping hot flashes in check ... so how can I make oats so that I will eat them every day? I've come across recipes where you soak oats overnight in the refrigerator, and then you can eat them cold in the morning, or heat them up to eat. And I came across other recipes where you bake the oats in the oven in a 'breakfast bar.' (The breakfast bar seems doable.) I've also learned about 'steel cut' oats, which are supposedly the best way to eat them. So this is my way of trying to figure out what I should do. If you have suggestions, feel free to share.

... hmm ... I was thinking of adding a bran cereal when she mentioned it. Maybe raisins, since they're supposed to be really good for you too. And either brown sugar or maple syrup. I really need to give this a try.

The book in this video reminded me of a talk show I saw once, where a man who needed a heart transplant 30 years before never got one, and his heart was normal due to his new diet. It's been a while since I've seen the show, so I can't recall if what I am about to share was on that show too, or if I learned of it somewhere else. But that info is that if you follow the Bible on what to eat, and what not to eat, your diet will be good for your heart/health.
Anyhoo, the book in this video is on reversing heart disease.

Okay. I made the toasted oats in the video. (Quick 1-Minute Oats) I liked the texture, but the oats are still too bland. I added maple syrup and cinnamon. It didn't hide the blandness very well, but it was edible. I wasn't hungry, but I managed to eat about 1/3 of it. I used one cup of oats, but I might do less tomorrow. *shrugs* Figuring out a way to like the oats without a lot sugar or sweetness might be hard to do. Maybe with the almond milk, or yogurt I won't need the maple syrup or sugar.
I've had two nights of hot flashes after that one night of okay from eating oats, so we'll see how tonight goes. I ate more oats than last time.

YouTube keeps sharing "Oats" videos on their main page.
Yeah. As little fluid as possible.

I used 1c of milk and 1c of rolled oats and 1T of cocoa. I also added some butter as well. I melted the butter and peanut butter in the microwave to soften, then added all the liquid ingredients before adding the cocoa and oats. Hoping that will be the magic amounts. Still wondering if I may need to go with 1/2T of cocoa.
